A Terrible Trifecta

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Don Imus is probably going to make forty million dollars suing CBS. I firmly believe that a forty million dollar payday for anything is deplorable but I must say, I’m glad he’s taking CBS to the cleaners. Any corporation that bails on freedom of speech at the drop of a hat deserves to be dragged over the coal.

I’m look at you, too, Public School System. (A story about a boy who wrote an essay with the direction, “Write a creative essay about whatever,” basically, and who was expelled from his school and is facing criminal charges of “disorderly conduct” and disrupting the peace.)

Two more notes that I want to talk about: James McGreevey is going to be an Episcopal priest (nuff said) and Rudy Giuliani gets hot with ferrets.

That’s three Giuliani-related posts in a row and not one of them has been positive. Guess I’ve got a real Liberal bias!

Rudy II

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

If you wonder why Rudy would go through the trouble of finding ghost supporters, wonder no longer, he’s trying to hide his real, more embarrassing ones! What’s more embarrassing than an imaginary friend, you ask?

Mr. Giuliani has drawn support from Texans who were notable donors to President Bush, including a former Enron president, Richard D. Kinder, and business executives who direct many of the nation’s oil, gas and energy producers. And a good part of this success, analysts say, stems from his affiliation with a well-established and politically connected law firm that is based in Houston and bears his name, Bracewell & Giuliani.

That affiliation adds to Mr. Giuliani’s personal wealth but also could pose political risks for him. The firm is perhaps the nation’s most aggressive lobbyist for coal-fired power plants, heavy emitters of air pollutants and carbon dioxide, a gas associated with global warming. Environmentalists say the firm played a significant role in persuading the Bush administration to roll back major provisions of the Clean Air Act.

Mr. Giuliani joined the 400-lawyer firm as a name partner two years ago, and though his legal work has been limited, his association with it has provided him entree into the wellspring of Texas money that meant so much to the Bush campaigns.

It may not be (heart)warming, but it’s (global)warming, and that’s just as good, isn’t it?

Rudy!

Rudy Giuliani has to pretend that he has more supporters than he does.

Funny.
